LCHS News and Updates
Dear LCHS Parents and Guardians,
It’s hard to believe how fast this online learning time is flying by. Starting on Monday, students have two more weeks of online learning. We have seen a little bit of a slip in work completion and work quality, let’s make sure we give it our all right to the end. I know this is a trying time and there are lots of issues kids are facing, but continuing to keep a schedule, do their school work, read, practice their instruments and exercising are great ways to pass the time productively.
Here are a few notes about things you have been asking:
- There will be no finals. Students will be assigned work up until May 14th and will have until May 22nd to complete all the work during this period of online learning
- Students will take the NWEA tests on May 19th and May 20th. We will provide more details as it gets closer. We will open the testing window for English one day and Math the other. Students will need to plan on about two hours for each test. This will give us important data on how they are doing overall and how they have fared academically during this time. Teachers will use this information when designing learning in the fall.
- Seniors Check-out day will be May 18th. Senior parents look for a separate email from me with details for seniors and graduation activities.
We will work on a plan for students to get their essential items still at school in late May. This will be restricted to essential items for everyone but seniors. Seniors will be able to get all their things, projects and belongings during senior check out.
We know many of you have questions about the fall. So do we and there is still much that is unknown. At this point we are planning on school as normal, but will develop a menu of contingency plans based on what might happen. We will work closely with our own Department of Public Health and the Colorado Department of Education to ensure both safety and high quality education for all our students.
Thanks for all the support and love you all have shown each other and our community at this time. Let’s stay Leadville strong and finish these last few weeks of school to the best of our ability.
